I'm 99.9% sure I'm not the first person on IMDb to notice the coincidence that Jesse Eisenberg stars in both Adventureland, which came out earlier this year, and Zombieland. What's more is in both movies he basically plays the same awkward character, he develops a love interest, and there's a theme park in the setting. What a coinci-Twinkie-dinky.

Twinkies are something Woody Harrelson's lovable weapon-totting character Tallahassee has a knack for. Anyway, if you want the story, I'll spin it for you quick. Zombies roam America (hence, the movie's title), Jesse Eisenberg's character Columbus is on his own with rules for survival, he meets and travels with Tallahassee, both get f-ed over when they meet sisters Wichita and Little Rock, and... I'll have to shut up here.

Zombieland is incredibly fun to watch. It has arguably more wit than Shaun of the Dead, which is a movie I personally didn't love as much as its cult followers. In Zombieland, Columbus' rules are put to good use for the audience to enjoy. The rules are frequently shown on the screen, sometimes repeatedly, but in clever ways that don't draw too much attention to themselves. Take the beginning, with Columbus at a gas station. His cardio rule is shown twice as he runs away from zombies.

The character chitchat is funny, like between Columbus and Tallahassee. If they were in the real non-zombiepocalypse world, they'd probably have a hard time standing each other, because of their different personalities. But hey, this is the movies, and there *is* a zombiepocalypse.

Bill Murray is a good sport playing himself in a scene, although the scene itself is rather predictable. It's only one of the very few lowlights, though, and I don't think the audience I saw the movie with cared or noticed what was going to happen. I say this just from a movie buff standpoint. I'm not even gonna bother mentioning the other lowlights, as they're insignificant.

Zombieland is a perfect buddy movie. It's got the weaponry, the laughs, and, of course, the zombies. It's a movie that certainly ain't dead. It's alive with plenty of energy. Along with Pontypool, Rec 2, and Dead Snow, this has actually been a good year for zombie films alone.

9/10
